N-Flex: The Flexible Drive Shaft

The NEMOS drive shaft “N‑Flex” is a hybrid-material product based on the patented N‑Technology. N‑Flex replaces several drive train components with just one integral part: It compensates axial, radial and angular misalignments and combines the functions of elastic couplings and drive shafts. Another feature is the torsional elasticity that smoothens out torque impacts.

The N‑Flex design combines strength of FRP along with the flexibility and damping characteristics of elastomeric material. It reduces mass, dimensions and maintenance effort. Compared to steel and composite-only shafts, the N‑Flex has significantly fewer vibrations and less noise transmission. The innovative drive shaft can be used in ships, vehicles, compressors and further industrial machines.

The innovative drive shaft design was awarded the “Approval in Principle” certificate by DNV.
